Pebble Steel available at Best Buy on June 15 for $229

Pebble announced today that the second-generation Pebble Steel smartwatch will be available at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations in the United States starting June 15. The smartwatch will cost $229 and comes in Brushed Stainless and Black Matte finishes. In its press release, Best Buy did not specify if the device will also be sold at its Canadian retail locations or through its subsidiary Future Shop… 

“Pebble’s first smartwatch, which was launched exclusively at Best Buy, made a big splash with consumers last year. This is technology that people want to test and try before buying, so we’re happy to partner with Pebble again and bring the same exclusive opportunity to our customers for Pebble Steel” says Carly Charlson, spokesperson for Best Buy.

Pebble Steel has a stainless steel body with Gorilla Glass and a steel or leather wristband. The device features weeklong battery life, a water resistant design, rich notifications, the Pebble App Store, regular updates and more. Pebble will be making Brushed Stainless and Black Matte Pebble Steel watchbands available later as a separate accessory.

On a related note, the original Pebble is now available in Arctic White for $149.
